My research explores the impact of science and technology on public policy and national security. I focus on the societal, economic, and security implications of emerging technologies like quantum systems; and artificial intelligence and machine learning. By analyzing existing policies and technological trends I am able to write research papers, reports, and policy briefs as a way to actively engage in the public discourse. I plan to collaborate with USF researchers to deepen my understanding and develop realistic, actionable policy recommendations. Finally, as a trained chemist, I am passionate about applying policy insights to chemistry-related fields, including critical minerals, pharmaceuticals, and advanced materials.

I worked as a Program Officer at the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, where I served as a Study Director overseeing an ad-hoc committee of chemists, phsycisist, and engineers to develop a policy report that identified major research areas within quantum information science that should be prioritized by key federal agencies. Overall, it was a great experience that allowed me to interact and learn from premier researchers from across the country!

Flash back to 10 years old: What did you want to be when you grew up? A journalist! Specifically, I wanted to write for the Floridian Section in the St. Petersburg Times, where I could report on all the real “Florida Man” stories.What's the most "interesting" thing you've done that not many people know about?I once got lost on top of a mountain in Shenadoah Valley and had to call 911 for help.
